QUALITY OF LIFE

KIDNEY HEALTH AND TRANSPLANTATION

This program is a comprehensive model for renal health care; from prevention and early disease detection to treatment. It also promotes organ donation culture and grants financial support for transplantation.


8,719 transplants performed since  2001, equivalent to 25% of the transplants to people with no social security services.

 

AMANECE

This program establishes health care networks to decrease maternal and child mortality.


90 Maternal Care Networks were established in  14 states at the end of 2012
Since 2008, 926,459 women and babies have been benefited through the Care Networks and the obstetric equipment donated by Telmex.

CASALUD

Model developed to revolutionize first contact health care units


30 care units in 12 federal states with 794,068 beneficiaries.

 

ADDICTIONS

This program’s purpose is to improve the quality of the services provided to people with addiction problems in public and social civil rehabilitation centres.


4,300 trained professionals in 1,000 public and social civil centers; attending 150,000 people suffering from addictions annually.

 

PALLIATIVE CARE

This program creates a model of psychosocial research, professionalization and care provided to people in the terminal stage of an illness and their families.


1,127 patients and 1,494 family members have received support. 33 health professionals have been trained.

 

INNOVATION

GENOMICS

This project aims to determine the genetic basis of high impact diseases in Mexico by promoting and funding national research and integrating a scientific multidisciplinary network.


65 million US dollars has been invested in the last 3 years.

A network has been stablished comprehending 14 national research institutes.

9,978 DNA samples to be analyzed have been collected patients suffering from diabetes, cancer and kidney disease.

9 scientific papers have been generated, published in international magazines like Nature and Science.

36 national researchers have been trained in the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University

9,978 people have attended to the 8 workshops, 5 symposiums and 4 conferences that have been conducted.

 

VACCINOLOGY

This is a cutting edge research project for the development of vaccines against leishmaniasis and Chagas disease.


10 Mexican states and 12 Latin American and Caribbean Countries have participated in this program. 2 generations have completed the Vaccinology Diplomat and 670 people have been trained. The vaccines can benefit millions of people across the American continent.

PREVENTION

EDUCATIONAL COMMUNICATION

This program aims to raise awareness of self-health care and to promote the adoption of healthy lifestyles, through printed and electronic dissemination tools.

30,535 ‘Manuales Tu Salud’ (Your Health Handbooks) distributed

 

HELTHY HOME

This program aims to promote hygiene habits, ecological sustainability and social development to improve living conditions at home.

SCHOLARSHIPS

This program aims to promote leadership in health research and academic learning.


20,098 scholarships have been granted to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as health professionals.

 

CARLOS SLIM HEALTH AWARD

This award recognizes professional’s outstanding research trajectory and exceptional institutes dedicated to improve population’s health.


19 awards given to researchers and institutes of 100,000 US dollars each and 2 other for Organ and Tissue Transplantation of 100,000 pesos each.

 

MESOAMERICAN HEALTH

This program is directed to the most vulnerable population in Chiapas and Central America. It aims to improve maternal and child health, nutrition, vaccination, as well as controlling dengue and malaria.


142 million dollar fund has been granted, targeting 121 municipalities in  7 Mesoamerican Countries
Through these actions, we aim to reach 1,0001000 women and 650,000 children under  5 years.
