Carlos Slim Health Award 2012
The Carlos Slim Health Award had its fifth edition in the new Soumaya Museum in Mexico City, again recognizing individuals and institutions working in viable and effective proposals to improving health in the Latin American region. Despite its short history, the Carlos Slim Health Award is already among the most important in the world for its winner’s quality, jurors and economic amount of $ 100,000 for each category.

From Colombia, a nongovernmental nonprofit organization that contributes with an innovative and easily replicable model to the newborns care. Whit this they aim to be a factor for change to decreasing the 4 million newborn deaths in developing countries.
José Villar Mendiara
From Argentina, Dr. Villar is considered a model of excellence in clinic and public health research and in human resources formation; focused in the improvement of maternal and perinatal care in our region and the world.
Julio Sotelo Morales
From México, Dr. Sotelo’s research positions him as one of the most cited Latin American authors in medical literature, and as an international benchmark in the area of neurocysticercosis.
