Achieving financial stability and improving health impact &#8220;.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>The aim of the forum was to open a space for exchanging experiences among world leaders on health and for presenting solutions to combat chronic diseases in the region.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the forum, <strong>Carlos Slim Foundation<\/strong> presented <strong>CASALUD<\/strong>, a model based on reengineering primary health care to prevent and control in a revolutionary way chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).<\/p>\n<p>The model is already being implemented successfully in Mexico as part of the <strong>Ministry of Health National Strategy<\/strong>. It is currently operating in 21 states, and is expected that by 2015 will run in the whole country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Roberto Tapia Conyer<\/strong>, <strong>General Director of the Carlos Slim Foundation<\/strong>, shared the successful experience of <strong>CASALUD<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;<strong>CASALUD<\/strong> is a reengineering process to produce true care continuity, implement prevention productive strategies, encourage individual co-responsibility and break down barriers to reach the community and homes,&#8221; <\/em>Tapia Conyer said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that <em>&#8220;<strong>CASALUD<\/strong> model applies a strategy called <strong>MIDO\u00ae (Integrated Measurement for Early Detection)<\/strong>, which makes possible to identify healthy people, those at risk for pre-diabetes, pre-obesity and pre-hypertension, as well as those who already suffer from a non-communicable disease.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Early detection of these conditions, before they become irreversible diseases, represents the largest window of opportunity in the care of chronic diseases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CASALUD<\/strong>\u00a0reconfigures first care services through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Health care focused on the individual, including risk assessment through <strong>MIDO\u00ae <\/strong>at health units as well as at home and communities, with personalized and continuous monitoring, and treatment based in evidence and best practices.<\/li>\n<li>Continuous monitoring of medicines and laboratory supplies.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening of human capital through constant training, improving quality of prevention measures and management of chronic noncommunicable diseases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All these services are based on innovative technology tools developed by the Foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Health in Latin America Forum was conducted in Mexico City, organized by McKinsey &amp; Company.
