Applicants must be public servants and others who have distinguished by their<strong> merits in favor of the health of Mexican people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The awards include the \u2018Eduardo Liceaga\u2019 Decoration for Medical Sciences Healthcare Administration; and the prices: \u2018Doctor Miguel Otero\u2019 for Clinical Research, \u2018Doctor Gerardo Varela\u2019 for Public Health, \u2018Doctor Manuel Velasco Suarez\u2019 for Neurology and Neurosurgery, \u2018Dr. Guillermo Soberon Acevedo\u2019 \u00a0for Institutional Development, \u2018Doctor Ram\u00f3n de la Fuente Mu\u00f1iz\u2019 for Mental Health, \u2018Doctor Ignacio Chavez\u2019, for Medical Humanism, \u2018Martin de la Cruz\u2019 for Chemical and Biological Research, \u2018Dr. Margarita Chorne Salazar\u2019 for Dentistry, \u2018Nurse Isabel Cendala y Gomez\u2019 for Merit in Nursing, and \u2018Lucia Salcido\u2019 for Nursing Assistance.<\/p>\n<p>These distinctions seek to<strong> recognize health professionals who have excelled in the fields of medicine, chemistry and pharmacy, dentistry, nursing<\/strong> and other health areas, and will be delivered in a ceremony that will lead President Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto and Health Minister Juan Mercedes.<\/p>\n<p>The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates World Health Day on 7 April. Every year a specific topic is chosen, and in this 2015 the topic to be discussed is &#8220;Food Safety&#8221;. According with the organization, since our food supply becomes increasingly globalized, the need to strengthen food safety systems in and between all countries is becoming more and more evident. Therefore WHO seeks to promote efforts to improve food safety, from farm to plate (and everywhere in between), helping countries prevent, detect and respond to foodborne disease outbreaks.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by WHO, food safety is a shared responsibility.
