\"\"Carlos Slim Foundation <\/strong>(CSF) has worked for more than two years in the development and implementation of the Electronic Immunization Records<\/strong> (Cartilla Electr\u00f3nica de Vacunaci\u00f3n<\/em>, CEV), a tool that helps providing accurate and portable information on an individual\u2019s vaccination status. This innovative system contributes to improve the population\u2019s protection against preventable diseases by vaccination, and represents a fundamental pillar for the modernization of the Universal Immunization Program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The CEV<\/strong>, developed jointly with the Federal Ministry of Health<\/strong>, is the technological element on which the Comprehensive Immunization Information System<\/strong> (SIIVac) has been built, allowing the identification and individual monitoring of children, as well as providing timely and reliable information for decision-making at all levels, from vaccinators and health personnel to the coordinators and leaders of vaccination programs in the states and at the federal level. It is important to mention that the Gonzalo R\u00edo Arronte Foundation<\/strong> joined this important project since 2015.<\/p>\n

The CEV<\/strong> has already been implemented in a focused way in various Health Jurisdictions<\/strong> in six states throughout the country. This implementation has required coordination and organization meetings with authorities at all levels, training of management and operational personnel, monitoring, and accompaniment to in-field actions. So far, SIIVac<\/strong> has registered over 159 thousand children under 5 years old and operates in 240 health units with 813 vaccinators. Likewise, there is already detailed information on almost two million vaccines applied.<\/p>\n

In 2017, these figures will grow significantly because, although the CEV<\/strong> is implemented in the jurisdictions of six states, this year 6 states will adopt its use completely in all the health centers of the local Health Ministries.<\/p>\n

CEV<\/strong> was designed by Fundaci\u00f3n Carlos Slim<\/strong> and is the first of its kind in Latin America, putting Mexico at the forefront of technology applied to health information. The CEV<\/strong> allows to know precisely how many vaccines are applied and to have a national database to know how many children are vaccinated and with which vaccines, thus generating higher quality information to support decision making to contribute improving the health protection actions for the population through vaccines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
