This contraceptive <strong>would not have a hormonal load and once its intake is sopped, the man will be fertile again immediately and without side effects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Claudia Trevi\u00f1o, a researcher at the Institute of Biotechnology at UNAM, said that the purpose of this project is to <strong>develop a drug that has effectiveness above other methods in the market, beyond 96 percent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Trevi\u00f1o explained that when a woman who has used the contraceptive pill for many years in may cause difficulty to conceive once she stops taking the pill, and in many cases they need infertility treatment. <strong>With this drug, scientists seek to free women from being the only ones responsible for birth control<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently two male contraceptive methods: the condom and vasectomy.<\/p>\n<h3>How does it work?<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>contraceptive developed by the UNAM blocks the movement of the sperm, preventing it from reaching the egg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>From the point where the sperm is ejaculated to the point where it finds the ovule it is a very long road so it has to move using its tail, beating it hard. This <strong>compound would inhibit this shaking and prevent the sperm from swimming the distance needed to find the ovule so they are not found and there is no fertilization<\/strong><\/em>,\u201d said researcher Claudia Trevi\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>To <strong>immobilize sperm<\/strong>, the UNAM researchers are <strong>proposing the use of venom of poisonous animals such as snakes, spiders and scorpions<\/strong>, among others. The <strong>presentation of this contraceptive would be in patches or pills<\/strong>.
