The Research and Advanced Studies Centre<\/strong> (Cinvestav) and the pharmaceutical group Neopharma launched the first edition of the Award for Bio-nanotechnology Innovation Cinvestav- Neolpharma. <\/strong>This award has the purpose of opening a new research line in bio-nanotechnology applied to health. The project winner will be announced next 28th<\/sup> of February in their premises located in Zacatenco, Mexico.<\/p>\n

Rene Asomaza Palacio<\/strong>, General Director of Cinvestav<\/strong>, mentioned in the press conference: Mexico is now positioned in worldwide place 53 of 73 in terms of research and scientific innovation development.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cOur generation is facing a period of rapid scientific and technological change, in which frequently there are new or upgraded devices and techniques. Among these changes we are able to testify the results on combinations between biologic sciences with nanotechnology, which are already impacting and will have an influence in all human activities\u201d<\/em>, stated Efren Ocampo Lopez<\/strong>, Executive President of Neolpharma Group<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Award for Bio-nanotechnology Innovation<\/strong> emerged in order to recognize the effort, dedication and research made by the people interested in this field and to stimulate its research. Also, the award pursues to reproduce the knowledge inside the universities and support the development of the country.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The awarded researcher will be entitled to an incentive of 150 thousand pesos. Furthermore, the project will disseminate, with the purpose to found recognition in the scientific field and a pharmaceutical company will take the project to production. Neolphalma does not have the plans to initiate the manufacture of the winners work.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The call for proposals was opened for all scientifics working in universities, national health institutes and research centres in the country. Also, the project had to be developed in Mexico, unpublished and applied to the health sector.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The jury was formed by 55 Scientifics from different institutions, but any from the organizers centres; all of them with experience in similar competitions. Impartiality was assured, as each work was identified with a pseudonym, maintaining anonymous the author and the institution where the research was developed.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On the 28th<\/sup> of February it will be announced the criteria for the second edition of the Award for Bio-nanotechnology Innovation Cinvestav- Neolpharma 2014. <\/strong>Work submission will end in July and\u00a0\u00a0 the award will be given in October, ended Asamoza Palacio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
