Last Thursday, the First Meeting on Health Infrastructure was organized by the Federal Ministry of Health. The event, that included representatives of the 31 states, served to monitoring and analyzing the progresses of hospital facilities that are currently under construction.
The meeting, held in the Auditorium “Miguel E. Bustamante” at the Sub-Ministry of Administration and Finance, was chaired by the head of this dependency, Marcela Velasco. The Sub-minister was commissioned to confirm these actions and to timely follow up the progress of each of the works.
She said that from all commitments specified by the federal government, 25 are related to infrastructure development. Of these 25 commitments, she informed, three managed to materialize in the form and time at the end of 2014, and other six are projected to be concluded during 2015.
She also said that more than 300 medical units are being built in Mexico, emphasizing that they will be submitted to ongoing supervision over the coming months to avoid delays and address any need.
Velasco told representatives of the 31 states that feedback meetings will be performed bimonthly to exchange information and points of view among federal and state authorities.
The event brought together various health officials, including Dr. Alberto Jonguitud, General Director of Health Planning and Development, who explained the importance of strengthening health infrastructure at national level. Since the authorities have the compromise to build sanitary facilities that help to minimize and solve damages caused in some states by natural phenomena, such as happened in Baja California Sur and Guerrero, he said.
