Carlos Slim Foundation participated in the seminar-workshop ‘Social Policy Lab: a Systematic Approach’ organized in Cambridge, Massachusetts, by the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS) in strategic partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the collaboration of the US Social Security Administration (SSA).
In a global context where population ageing poses a massive challenge to public health services, the Social Policy Lab was created with the aim of discussing and analyzing social protection proposals with a transversal approach, to incorporate other key areas of knowledge such as biological and medical sciences, which have been excluded in previous studies.
Dr. Tapia Conyer, General Director of Carlos Slim Foundation, shared the Foundation’s experience on health and its implications for social security and the creation of innovative policies that promote human welfare.
The event was also attended by other global leaders in scientific research and development, economics, social policy and health sciences; who debated on how to lay the groundwork for the construction of public policies recommendations that promote the strengthening of social protection systems debate.
Throughout the event, they discussed and assessed the main risks social protection is facing, to generate innovative policies that promote human welfare with a lower social cost.
