wakeapp_circuloEl Círculo de la Salud (The Health’s Circle) was recently launched to the market. It is a new app for smartphones and tablets aimed to give us secrets on prevention of major risk factors leading to cardiovascular disease, which is considered the number one cause of death in the world. The idea of this new app is to promote the population’s health through a graphical user interface (GUI) visually attractive and very extensive multimedia content.

The interface allows the user to discover the six modifiable risk factors which lead to cardiovascular disease: cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, smoking and lack of physical exercise. This app provides strategies to prevent these factors ensuring a healthy heart, and also offers weekly challenges to have a healthier life.

The director of this initiative, Dr. Valentin Fuster, general manager of the Cardiovascular National Investigation Centre (CNIC) and director of New York’s Mount Sinai Cardiovascular Institute, believes that health promotion is something that should be addressed positively, adding that incorporating this new tool is good news for society, because we all can do much to be healthier.

The application is compatible with Android and iOS operating systems, and is aimed for adults who are concerned about their health and want to improve their habits in terms of diet, physical activity or smoking, among others. It will also be a useful tool for those who have or had a disease related to the heart or blood vessels (arteries and veins), as it will allow them to expand their knowledge on the subject to avoid possible risks in the future.

El Círculo de la Salud is a Pro CNIC Foundation initiative for health promotion, developed by a multidisciplinary team of Wake App Health, which is a health innovation company specialized in health media and mobile applications aimed to improve health.
