The Ministry of Health of Mexico and the Federal Attorney’s Office for the Consumer Protection (PROFECO) will promote among the population the benefits of healthy eating, practicing physical activity and drinking water every day, announced Pablo Kuri Morales, Sub Minister on Prevention and Health Promotion.
This partnership will strengthen information promotion and permanent actions required for the welfare of Mexican families.
At the ceremony for the ‘World Consumer Rights Day’, which this year is focused on consumers’ rights to healthy food, Kuri Morales explained that the information will be disseminated through brochures and printed materials delivered to consumers.
Population will be able to consult a microsite on healthy consumption, which will be ready in the coming days, and will be available on the official websites of the Ministry of Health and PROFECO. This section will contain comprehensive and detailed information on health and wellness, simple recommendations for food preparation and a cookbook with healthy options.
Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, Minister of Economy, said that inform is not enough, but also educate; because education enables behavioral change towards healthy eating.
Lorena Martinez Rodriguez, Federal Consumer Attorney, explained the strategy. She said there will be a spread of print and digital materials, as well as fieldwork aimed at consumers, to improve their health conditions.
