Headaches are the most common disorder of the nervous system and can be related to other diseases or circumstances like hunger, stress, dehydration or fatigue, among many others. In most cases headaches are a temporary condition without sequels, but in other circumstances are linked to a damaged quality of life, disability and increased financial costs.
According with the World Health Organization, more than a third of male population, and more than half female population have a headache at least once a year. Furthermore, one in twenty adults suffers from this condition daily.
A headache may affect the willingness and ability of people to interact with their peers or perform activities normally. According to a survey by GFK, Mexico ranks first in Latin America in headaches, as about 57 percent of Mexicans suffer this condition. Nationally, 60 percent of women and 54 percent of men have this condition.
The most common way to control pain is with the use of analgesics, such as paracetamol, ibuprofen aspirin and codeine, which most common users are people in the range of 18 to 60 years old.
One of the most traditional and widely used painkillers is aspirin. The Bayer pharmaceutical reported that 900 million aspirin tablets were sold in Mexico in 2014. Aspirin was introduced in 1899; since then, Bayer has launched several aspirin versions to the market, such as coated or chewable. The latest technology of the company, called pro-release, produces results twice as fast as the original by reducing aspirin particles in micro-particles, producing pain relief after six minutes and reaching its maximum level after 15 minutes.
