The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrates World Health Day on 7 April. Every year a specific topic is chosen, and in this 2015 the topic to be discussed is “Food Safety”. According with the organization, since our food supply becomes increasingly globalized, the need to strengthen food safety systems in and between all countries is becoming more and more evident. Therefore WHO seeks to promote efforts to improve food safety, from farm to plate (and everywhere in between), helping countries prevent, detect and respond to foodborne disease outbreaks.

As reported by WHO, food safety is a shared responsibility. Thus, they believe is important to work all along the food production chain – from farmers and manufacturers to vendors and consumers.
